Zirconium Oxide

A bio-compatible and highly aesthetic material.
Zirconium (Zr) is a chemical element with 40 as atomic number. Zirconium is obtained from the zirconium silicate mineral, zircon [ZrSi04]; zircon deposits can be found in Australia, Russia, United States, Brazil, and India. It is a gray-white, hard mineral with high resistance to corrosion.
Zirconium oxide is derived from this mineral. Once stabilized with yttrium, this oxide creates a ceramic material, zirconia, which has been employed in orthopaedics for decades for the restoration of bone components.

Its resistance enables the manufacturing of structures with a thickness down to 0.3 mm, providing, in some cases, more room to ceramic work.
The excellent translucency of zirconia ensures a natural look and, in case of gingival recession no black marks are visible.
